Bibleway Privacy Policy

Hundredfold Development  ·  Last updated: April 18, 2026

Introduction

Bibleway ("we," "our," or "us") is a daily Bible reading and devotional app developed by Hundredfold Development. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Bibleway is designed to be a personal, reflective tool for your faith journey, and we collect only what is necessary to improve the experience.

Information We Collect — Information You Provide

Bibleway does not require account registration. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information you provide directly.

Information Collected Automatically

We use Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) to collect anonymized usage data, including:

• Screens viewed and navigation patterns • Audio playback events (play, pause, skip, completion, speed changes) • Reading progress (current day, completed days, streak milestones) • Content errors encountered • Notification interactions (permission granted/denied, notification taps) • Font size and theme preferences

This data is collected in aggregate and is used solely to understand how users engage with the app so we can improve it. Firebase Analytics may assign a random analytics identifier to your device.

Firebase Analytics also automatically collects standard device information such as device type, operating system version, and general geographic region (country/region level).

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device using your device's local storage (SharedPreferences) and is never transmitted to our servers:

• Your current reading day • Which days you have completed • Your notification reminder preferences (enabled/disabled, time) • Audio playback settings (speed)

This data remains on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

How We Use Information

We use the information collected to:

• Understand how users engage with Bibleway in order to improve features and content • Track aggregate reading progress trends (not individual user data) • Diagnose technical errors and crashes • Measure the effectiveness of new features

We do not use your data for advertising, do not sell your data to third parties, and do not use your data to build individual user profiles.

Third-Party Services

We use the following Firebase services:

• Firebase Analytics — anonymized usage tracking as described above • Firebase Cloud Functions — used to securely proxy requests to the ESV Bible API; your scripture passage requests are passed through our server-side function but are not logged or stored

App content (devotionals, reading plans, audio) is served from Sanity.io's content delivery network. Sanity receives standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, device type) when content is fetched.

Scripture passage text is retrieved via the ESV API, proxied through our Firebase Cloud Function. Your passage requests are not stored or associated with any user identifier.

Local Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, Bibleway schedules local notifications on your device. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data is sent to our servers to schedule or deliver them. You can disable reminders at any time in the app's Settings screen or in your device's notification settings.

Audio Playback

Audio content is streamed from URLs hosted on our content delivery infrastructure. Your device's standard network request metadata (IP address) is transmitted when fetching audio. We do not log or store audio listening activity on our servers; playback analytics are collected anonymously via Firebase Analytics as described above.

Children's Privacy

Bibleway is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained by Firebase in accordance with Google's data retention policies (typically up to 14 months for event-level data).

Local device data (reading progress, preferences) is retained on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data in your device settings.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

• The right to access information we hold about you • The right to request deletion of your data • The right to opt out of analytics collection

To opt out of analytics: You can disable analytics data collection in your device settings. On iOS, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disable tracking for Bibleway. On Android, you can opt out of ads personalization in your Google account settings.

To delete local data: Uninstall the app or clear app data in your device settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
